Real Madrid could do with a long-term right-back. Dani Carvajal has been the starter there for a long time. He is set to turn 32 years of age though and sooner or later, Los Blancos will need to find the long-term successor for the Spaniard. They have been linked with players like Reece James of Chelsea, Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool, Pedro Porro of Tottenham Hotspur and a few others lately.

Yan Couto is another right-back rumoured to be on the radar of Real Madrid. The Manchester City player is currently on loan at Girona.

Couto is enjoying a magical season, as Girona are putting up a title challenge against all odds and expectations. The Manchester City loanee has been one of the key reasons behind that. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 2 goals and provided 6 assists in 21 appearances tlll now.

Those are excellent numbers. Naturally, it is not hard to see why Real Madrid have been linked with him. And some of Couto's recent comments will raise the hopes of the fans regarding a potential move to Santiago Bernabeu.

As tweeted by Madrid Xtra, when asked about a club he liked but didn’t play for, Couto named Real Madrid. He also admitted that Cristiano Ronaldo was his childhood idol.

Thus, it looks like Couto already has a soft spot for Real Madrid. Now, it remains to be seen if Los Blancos end up making a move for him. Of course, Manchester City might view him as a future starter as well, with Kyle Walker set to turn 34 next summer.

Thus, the situation of Couto is very interesting. One thing that is for certain is that he looks destined to play for a top club one day, whether that be Manchester City or Real Madrid.
