Manchester City made a winning start to the season as they defeated Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. But it was not all smooth sailing for Pep Guardiola's side. The Blues looked like the better team for the majority of the game and if they had some luck and their finishing boots on, the result could have been vastly different. The Citizens need to improve if they are to win a fifth straight Premier League title and it appears that they have their eyes on a Real Madrid player.

One problem Manchester City are facing right now is injuries. Oscar Bobb, who had looked superb in pre-season, is out for the foreseeable future. Savinho, who looked incredibly bright in the first half against Chelsea, appeared to pick up an issue as well and was subbed off.

So, despite Manchester City's unbelievable squad depth, they might need to add to their options soon. Especially with the club looking to compete for every trophy possible.

As reported by Football Insider, Manchester City have set their sights on Rodrygo after a double injury blow. It could take a £70-80 million transfer fee to sign him. He has also indicated that he’s happy to stay at Real Madrid.

Manchester City have been linked with Rodrygo for a few weeks now. Since it emerged that Julian Alvarez was on his way to Atletico Madrid.

At the moment, it does not feel likely that Real Madrid would be willing to part ways with Rodrygo. He has been a key player for the club for the past few years, rising to the plate on a number of big occasions.

Also, despite Kylian Mbappe's arrival in the summer, Rodrygo seems to have retained his place in Carlo Ancelotti's starting XI. So, there is very little reason for the Brazilian international to leave at the moment.
