Real Madrid were ahead of the curve when they signed players like Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo for bi-money transfer fees early on in their careers. Many had raised eyebrows back then but those two are now Champions League winners. In the case of the former, he has scored in two finals. And in hindsight, it is safe to say that Los Blancos were brilliant with their recruitment.

There is one problem Real Madrid face now though. Other clubs have caught up and are willing to make major investments to sign rising South American talent.

We have seen Chelsea agree deals for Estevao and Aaron Anselmino recently. Both were linked with Real Madrid at one point. And it looks like they have their eyes on another one of the club's rumoured targets.

As tweeted by Eduardo Burgos, Real Madrid have yet to contact Palmeiras to discuss Vitor Reis. They are expected to send scouts soon. On the other hand, sources close to the player confirm that several European clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea have sounded out his situation.

Palmeiras have been developing some of the best talents in world football in recent times. Real Madrid have already signed one, in the form of Endrick, who arrived in the Spanish capital this summer.

Other than that, Estevao will join Chelsea soon and is considered by many as the best talent in Brazilian football since Neymar. West Ham United signed Luis Guilherme for a significant transfer fee as well.

As for Reis, he is a centre-back. He has played a dozen times for Palmeiras at the senior level so far. And with Real Madrid's lack of depth in central defence, it is not hard to see why they might be looking for a long-term solution there. They missed out on Leny Yoro as he joined Manchester United.
