Manchester United eye former Real Madrid manager to replace Erik ten Hag
The Manchester United job might be the most difficult in all of football right now. Nobody has been able to get it right since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. David Moyes replaced him and we all know how that turned out. Louis van Gaal never won over the fanbase despite winning the FA Cup. Jose Mourinho got off to a good start but faded away by the third season. And Ole Gunnar Solskjaar showed glimpses of promise but struggled by the end. Could a former Real Madrid boss be the solution?
Erik ten Hag is another manager who showed promise in his debut campaign with Manchester United, winning the League Cup and finishing in the top four. Things have headed south this season though.
The club are out of the League Cup already, are seventh in the Premier League and finished bottom of what was viewed as a relatively easy Champions League group. Unsurprisingly, there are question marks over Ten Hag's future at the club.
It does not feel like there is any immediate chance of Ten Hag being shown the Old Trafford exit door. He still appears to have the backing of the club and a significant part of the fanbase. But if things don't improve soon, his departure would become inevitable. In that scenario, who would replace him at Manchester United?

Graham Potter is someone who has been linked with the Manchester United job lately. But it looks like a former Real Madrid manager and a rumoured target to replace Carlo Ancelotti are ahead of him in the race.
As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Dean Jones said:
"My personal information has been that Lopetegui and maybe even Roberto De Zerbi would be stronger contenders than Potter and I have to admit I have extreme reservations about Potter being able to handle life at Old Trafford based on what we saw from him at Chelsea."
Lopetegui had an unremarkable run as Real Madrid manager. He arrived in the summer of 2018 and was gone by the end of October. So, one could raise the same questions about him that surround Potter.
