Manchester United linked with €60 million Real Madrid defender
Manchester United need to strengthen their squad, having struggled to build upon a successful debut campaign under the management of Erik ten Hag. Their defensive record has certainly been a problem for them. Raphael Varane's future at the club is in doubt, as he has lost his place as a regular starter. Could they replace him with a Real Madrid centre-back?
Manchester United have signed quite a few Real Madrid players in recent years. Angel Di Maria made the move to Old Trafford back in 2014. Varane joined in 2021. And Casemiro departed Real Madrid out of the blue and signed for them in the summer of 2022.
None of them have proven to be great successes at Manchester United. But Real Madrid players continue to be linked with moves to Old Trafford regardless.
As reported by SPORT, Real Madrid want a €60 million transfer fee to part ways with David Alaba. Possible departures for the Austrian would be Manchester United, Juventus and Al-Ittihad.

Alaba has been a regular starter for Real Madrid, but his performances have been disappointing. And it looks like that has led to the club reconsidering his position.
On the contrary, Antonio Rudiger has stepped up to the plate and been superb this season, after a difficult debut campaign. And when Eder Militao returns, Alaba might lose his place in the starting XI.
At the same time, Alaba will turn 32 years of age next summer. Thus, if Real Madrid are able to bring in a €60 million transfer fee for him, it would have been considered a success on the part of Los Blancos.
Let's see what the future holds for Alaba. It would be a mistake if the club let him go before bringing in another proven centre-back though.
