Manchester United have continued to struggle to rediscover their path to the top of English football since Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013. It has been more than a decade since then and the club have not even put up a serious challenge for the Premier League or the Champions League over that time. Now, with some structural changes in the ownership, it remains to be seen if things change for the Old Trafford side. And it looks like they have a Real Madrid superstar on their radar.

It is widely believed that Real Madrid are set to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer. What would that mean for the future of Vinicius Junior at the club though?

Vinicius is currently considered the face of the club, having been one of their best performers for the past three seasons. But one would think that a global megastar like Mbappe would take that spotlight if he was to arrive at Santiago Bernabeu. It does not help that they play similar roles on the pitch as well.

As reported by Fichajes, Manchester United are reportedly willing to shell out more than £170 million for Vinicius. That would make him the most expensive signing in Premier League history.

Someone like Vinicius would be an exceptional addition for Manchester United. He is the level of player who could be the missing piece of the puzzle that turns them into Premier League contenders once again.

On the other hand, Real Madrid fans will be hoping that they do not have to say goodbye to Vinicius anytime soon. He is one of the best players in the world right now, arguably the very best on his day.

It might be difficult to fit both Vinicius and Mbappe in the same time, but one would expect someone as smart as Carlo Ancelotti to find a solution if faced with that problem. Let's see how things play out but hopefully we will get to see the Brazilian winger in the Royal white jersey for years to come.
