Real Madrid could do with another centre-back right now, that is pretty clear. The only two options in the heart of defence for Carlo Ancelotti are Antonio Rudiger and Nacho as both Eder Militao and David Alaba are out with torn ACLs. Aurelien Tchouameni can fill in if the situation calls for it but that would not be ideal by any stretch of the imagination.

Real Madrid have been linked with a number of centre-backs lately. Raphael Varane, Goncalo Inacio, Antonio Silva and Matthijs de Ligt are just some of the names doing the rounds of the rumour mill.

Now, it looks like an Italian international is in their sights as well. But at the same time, Manchester United are being linked with him too.

He is one of Italian football's rising talents. As tweeted by Ekrem Konur, Manchester United, Real Madrid and PSG scouts watched Giorgio Scalvini during Atalanta's match against Bologna.

Scalvini is 20 years of age and currently plays for Atalanta. He is a regular starter in Gian Piero Gasperini's side and has been for quite some time now.

Scalvini is also a regular in the Italy national team setup. He made his international debut last year and has been regularly involved since then.

Someone like Scalvini would tick a lot of the boxes that Real Madrid look for when it comes to signing players. He is a youngster with a lot of room for growth but is already playing at a very high-level at the same time.

Real Madrid's recruitment in recent years has been fantastic, arguably the best in all of Europe. So, if they have indeed identified Scalvini as a transfer target, it must be with good reason. Let's see if they make a move in the future or not.
