The transitional phase at Real Madrid is nearly complete. Over the past number of seasons, several club legends have departed for the next steps in the twilight of their careers, and the club have been bringing in youngsters to fill their boots. Credit to these fresh faces for not crumbling under the pressure and continuing the tradition of success at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The club have overseen the departures of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, Marcelo and Casemiro, just to name a few. And they have witnessed these icons being replaced by players like Vinicius Jr, Eder Militao, Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni and more, who will no doubt be cornerstones of Real Madrid for years to come.

One player who Real Madrid have not found a long-term replacement for yet is Benzema. The Frenchman departed for Al-Ittihad in the summer leaving Los Blancos lacking options up front.

Kylian Mbappe is rumoured to arrive in the summer as a free agent. However, for this season, Real Madrid opted for a more short-term fix to the problem and one which has proven to be an inspired decision on their part.

The club opted to bring in Joselu on loan from Espanyol to fill the gap left by Benzema. The Spaniard has surprised many this season by scoring several important goals, helping the team secure crucial points in the process.

Real Madrid are believed to be open to the idea of turning Joselu's loan deal into a permanent move in the summer. However, they are not the only high-profile option the striker might have.

As reported by Relevo, one of the names Manchester United have shown interest in is Joselu. They consider that they need to reinforce the forward line with a substitute for Rasmus Hojlund and the Spaniard meets the characteristics they are looking for.

Joselu is no stranger to the English game, having spent time at both Stoke City and Newcastle United. However, the Spaniard did not have the best of time at either club. It is worth pointing out that he has proven to be a late bloomer in his career.

Joselu staying on at Real Madrid feels like the most likely route at this point. Never say never in football though.
