4. Samuel Eto’o

Samuel Eto’o had an excellent career throughout Europe but he is mostly known for his work with Chelsea and Barcelona. Not many people remember that it was actually Real Madrid where the Cameroonian began his career, though. 

Playing in the Madrid academy in the 90s, Eto’o looked like a promising player. He made the come-up and signed his first professional contract to join the Real Madrid first-team in 1997. However, he spent three years with three different loan spells in Spain, only to make three La Liga appearances for Real Madrid. 

Mallorca believed in Eto’o though, so they signed him permanently in 2000. He spent four amazing years there, making a name for himself as a youngster before Barcelona swiped him. It was with Barca where Eto’o spent the largest chunk of his career and where he excelled the most.
