Real Madrid have some impossible decisions to make in the summer transfer window. With Endrick and Kylian Mbappe arriving this summer, the pot will surely be stirred. Therefore, to maintain squad balance and harmony, Carlo Ancelotti must now assess which players will stay and which will go. After all, figuring this out at the beginning of the transfer window will prove beneficial.

Real Madrid put academy graduate on transfer list for just €10m

For Ancelotti, one decision appears to already be made. According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, promising youngster and Real Madrid academy graduate Alvaro Rodriguez is on the transfer list. The Spanish report claims that Real Madrid hope to make around €10m for his sale.

Needless to say, €10m is an absolute bargain for a player of his ability. Rodriguez burst onto the scene last season after he was promoted from the youth team. In 2022/23, Rodriguez made 6 appearances from the bench. He scored one goal, a pivotal equaliser against Atletico in the Madrid derby. In 2023/24, though, Rodriguez made just a one minute cameo from the bench.

Therefore, Carlo Ancelotti has considered this summer transfer window as the best opportunity to cut ties with the academy graduate before its too late. It makes sense and the kindest thing to do is to sell Rodriguez, to allow him more game-time elsewhere.

After all, if he has struggled to get into the team ahead of the likes of Joselu, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, then he will only continue to woe next season with the world-class additions planned and executed by Los Blancos.

As stated, €10m is an absolute steal for Alvaro Rodriguez. At this price, he will surely not be short of interest from big European clubs.

At just 19 years old, I cannot help but feel like this sale, especailly at a measly price, is a sale which Real Madrid will come to regret in the future. However, it must be acknowledged that it is a decision out of Real Madrid's control. Being realistic, the chances of Rodriguez making a name for himself at Madrid are slim in 2024/25, so they are doing the right thing by allowing him to prosper at another club.

And prosper he will.
