Real Madrid assess blockbuster move for Chelsea captain

According to a report by Fichajes, Real Madrid are prepared to accelerate their interest in Chelsea club captain Reece James. The English full-back is regarded as one of the best in the world in his position but he is expected to leave Chelsea this season, when he returns from his injury. Madrid fancy their chances and fans should expect the deal to at least be explored before the season ends.

Reece James is, without a doubt, world-class. He makes the terrible Chelsea team competitive and he is their diamond in the rough. The problem for the Blues, though, is they need to raise funds and James is their most profitable asset, garnering worldwide acclaim from top clubs like Real Madrid.

The one thing which Real Madrid will assess is whether or not James could commit himself to the club. So far, his time in the Premier League has been plagued by injury setback after injury setback. This season, though, James has undergone surgery, in the hopes of putting an end to his constant time on the treatment table.

Ageing at 24 years old, Real Madrid fans should be incredibly excited by the thought of James playing his best years at the Bernabeu. A creative driving force at full-back, he can also play as a centre-back if required. There is no denying, though, that his attributes are best used on the defensive flank.

Concerned about a toss-up between Alphonso Davies and Reece James, Real Madrid fans? No need - James is best used on the right, whereas Davies is best used on the left. Certainly, they would be great additions to cap off a world-class defence.
