Real Madrid and Barcelona are expected to compete for the La Liga title once again this season. It is Hansi Flick's side who have made the better start out of the two, winning all three of their games so far, which puts them four points ahead of Los Blancos. It is only a matter of time before Carlo Ancelotti's team find their form though. So, do not expect this one to be a one-sided race.
It is not only on the pitch that the two sides could find themselves competing with each other this season. It looks like they have common transfer targets as well.
As reported by Football 365, reports in Spain are claiming that Real Madrid and Barcelona are competing to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer ahead of next summer. It is believed that both clubs have already begun to establish contact with the player’s entourage, who would not be against a change of scenery after a decade at Anfield.
Liverpool are undergoing change at the moment, with Jurgen Klopp leaving and Arne Slot their new manager. Could that lead to some key players leaving in the future? Time shall tell. Trent is one of the ones to have been most heavily linked with an Anfield exit.
Real Madrid and Barcelona competing to sign Liverpool player
Trent has been one of the best full-backs in the Premier League for several years now. There have been question marks over the defensive side of his game for sure but going forward, he has to be one of the best ever.
It is not hard to see why someone like him would catch the eye of clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona. Especially with his contract running out next summer.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool are able to agree an extension with Trent. If they don't, expect Real Madrid to make a move.
