Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is a very stern figure who is difficult to read. In many ways, this has made him a managerial giant in the European scene due to his sheer unpredictability. Again, he has proven this in a recent press conference.

Real Madrid beat Sevilla at the weekend in La Liga, with Luka Modric coming up with a great goal in the dying moments. From Ancelotti's perspective, the goal came at the right moment since it meant that he could correctly manipulate his planned substitution to better suit the game and how the result was looking.

When it looked like Arda Guler was being primed to be introduced to the match, Modric's shot hit the back of the net so instead, the Turkish wonderkid remained on the bench. This was bound to raise eyebrows, particularly since Guler is linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer.

However, Ancelotti has spoken out about, claiming it was nothing except a tactical decision. In his own words, Ancelotti said (via Football Espana): "I had one thought before Modric’s goal and after the goal I changed my mind. It’s not that complicated and I don’t have to explain this. And if he don’t understand it, it doesn’t matter.”

Very cold words, particularly since Ancelotti does not feel the need to explain himself to Guler. However, Ancelotti should be applauded for his quick decision making. The game called for experience in the dying moments, as Real Madrid needed to see out their one-goal lead. To bring on Guler wouldn't have made sense after the goal went in, only before.

Guler is bound to get his chance if he keeps impressing in training. He is a talented wonderkid with the future ahead of him. He should not let the weekend and not being involved get to him.

Where do you think Arda Guler will play next season?
