Real Madrid have already lifted a league title and a cup trophy this season. They are on the precipice of a historic treble win, should they win the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund. Los Blancos majorly have Joselu to thank as the on-loan striker was the hero of the semifinal tie, coming off the bench to score two quick-fire goals against Bayern Munich.
But what will happen in the way of a Joselu transfer? Of course, he is only on loan from La Liga 2 side Espanyol. It is clear to see that the Spanish striker has returned to Real Madrid in high spirits and he has already been involved in some key moments under Carlo Ancelotti.
Real Madrid consider initial €1.5m Joselu transfer investment
According to a report from Spanish outlet Sport, Real Madrid are contemplating the initial investment of €1.5m, paid to Espanyol to keep ahold of Joselu. This would not be a transfer fee, it would instead be compensation based on keeping Joselu, at least through preseason.
Therefore, it is clear to see that Real Madrid need more time with Joselu in the squad to decide on whether he should be a permanent signing.
Having a little bit more time to ponder the decision actually benefits all parties, in my opinion. After all, Real Madrid need some more time to contemplate any transfers given their focus is on the UEFA Champions League final on June 1st.
Espanyol also have some important Segunda Division games coming up, since they are currently in a play-off spot, but have the aim of winning every remaining game in the hopes of claiming guaranteed promotion back to La Liga.
Real Madrid do have the option to buy Joselu. Oftentimes, it is not the way to go by offering a reduced fee to keep ahold of a player beyond their current contract. However, as mentioned, Espanyol's priorities are elsewhere currently, so they may appreciate the welcomed cash boost, particularly if they secure promotion back to the top flight of Spanish football.

Joselu has earned every right to be a permanent Real Madrid player again. He has provided some much-needed goals for the club and finished the season with a respectable 17 goals and two assists across all competitions. Not bad considering he made just 17 starts for Real Madrid.
Perhaps the confusion comes from Endrick's arrival and Kylian Mbappe's expected arrival. Joselu is already out of favour, so those two arrivals won't help his case. Still, time will tell how much he is valued by Carlo Ancelotti.
Do you think Real Madrid should sign Joselu?
