Real Madrid never really replaced Karim Benzema. After 14 years as one of the club's most important players, the French legend left at the end of last season to join Al-Ittihad. His spell there has not been exactly fruitful. On the other hand, Los Blancos opted for the short-term fix by signing Joselu on loan from Espanyol.

It has not really had a negative effect on their results. We are well into January and Carlo Ancelotti's side have lost just one game this season till now. That is incredible considering their lack of options and constant injury problems.

But in the long-term, they do need someone to lead the line. Kylian Mbappe has been heavily linked with the club but Real Madrid do not seem to be pushing as hard to sign him this time as they have in the past.

As reported by FootballTransfers, some people at Real Madrid believe that Victor Osimhen represents a better option for the club. There is a feeling that he is a player closer in style to Benzema.

Osimhen was one of the best strikers in the world last season and guided Napoli to their first Serie A title since Diego Maradona's time at the club. This season has been less fruitful for the Nigerian international.

Of course, he surely has not been helped by the constant controversies surrounding Napoli this season. The striker did sign a contract extension with the club recently though, which is believed to contain a release clause slightly north of £100 million.

That is a figure that Real Madrid could meet if they really wanted to sign Osimhen. At the same time, they have been linked with a move for Erling Haaland recently as well, who would be a Galactico signing as well.
