Real Madrid need to strengthen their squad. Many might question that considering the season the club are having right now. They have lost just one so far and recently won the Spanish Super Cup with a convincing 4-1 win against FC Barcelona. Thus, Carlo Ancelotti's side are being considered as favourites for both the Champions League and La Liga.

At the same time though, one cannot ignore the lack of depth in this current squad. The players and the coaching staff deserve a lot of credit for how well they have done so far in this campaign. But one cannot expect this run to continue forever.

We did see Los Blancos' form drop drastically in the second half of last season. Could the same happen this time around? Time shall tell.

Real Madrid are not expected to make any signings in January. But hopefully, they will do so in the summer. One of Liverpool's most important players appears to be in their sights.

Real Madrid eyeing Liverpool superstar as top target

As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Real Madrid have identified Trent Alexander-Arnold as their top target. The Spanish giants initially wanted to sign Chelsea captain, Reece James, but have now set their sights on the Liverpool right-back instead.

Trent has been a regular in the Liverpool first-team for years now. He came through their youth ranks and if he stays on at Anfield, he seems destined to be their captain one day.

Trent is a fantastic talent. There have been questions about his defensive ability for a long time but nobody can deny that he has been a mainstay in one of Europe's best teams for so many years for a reason. He is arguably the best full-back going forward in world football. If Real Madrid are able to sign the Liverpool superstar, it would be considered a major coup.
