Real Madrid favourites to sign €150m German international

Real Madrid have some of the best youngsters from around the world. The majority of their squad is in their early-to-mid 20s. Naturally, they are only expected to get better once they have a bit more experience under their belt. Not that it stopped them from winning a Champions League and La Liga double.

Things never stand still at Real Madrid though. The wheels must already be in motion when it comes to their plans for the 2025 summer transfer window.

A lot of the focus has been on the potential arrivals of Alphonso Davies and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Both of them are in the final 12 months of their contracts at their respective clubs.

But that might not be all Real Madrid are focusing on. In fact, they might be ready to splash the cash next summer to bring in an elite talent from the Bundesliga, with whom they have been linked for years now.

As reported by BILD, next summer, the transfer fee for Florian Wirtz could finance the overhaul at Bayer Leverkusen. The German international is expected to bring in €150 million. Only a few clubs are considering signing him. Real Madrid are the favourites. Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also in the running.

Wirtz was central to Bayer Leverkusen's unexpected Bundesliga triumph last season. While an exit this summer could have been a possibility, the German international has chosen to stay put as Xabi Alonso's side look to make their mark at the Champions League level.

It feels like it's only a matter of time before Wirtz ends up moving to an elite European team. Of course, one has to wonder where he would fit in in the current Real Madrid setup, that is stacked with talent up front and in midfield.
