Real Madrid secured their spot in the Champions League final, after winning the second leg of the semifinal tie against Bayern Munich in dramatic fashion. Despite testing Manuel Neuer throughout the entirety of the match, Real Madrid fans have one hero thank and that is the super-sub Joselu.

The loaned striker was introduced to the match late on, after spending the majority on the bench. He scored two quick-fire goals, helped by a costly mistake from the Bayern Munich goalkeeper.

But where does the future rest for Joselu? After all, his loan contract at Real Madrid expires in the summer of 2024 and as things stand, there is no agreement in place to sign him permanently from Espanyol.

Ageing at 34 years old, Joselu has shown he is still capable of producing at the top level. Given his immense involvement so far this season for Los Blancos, there is certainly a case for Carlo Ancelotti and Florentino Perez to consider signing him permanently. However, context is important.

Endrick will join the camp this summer and Kylian Mbappe is also expected to sign from Paris Saint-Germain. Therefore, the two quality additions to the Bernabeu roster may make it difficult for Joselu to start. After all, he struggles enough to get into the starting lineup ahead of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo anyway.

Real Madrid hero given transfer hope at West Ham under Julen Lopetegui

As per an update from GIVEMESPORT, West Ham United are "likely to explore" a transfer for Joselu this summer. It is interesting to consider that former Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui is tipped to replace David Moyes at the London Stadium come the end of the season, so he could work closely to orchestrate the move for Joselu.

Lopetegui is the former manager of the Real Madrid B team, where Joselu originally developed as a player. Therefore, to imagine Joselu ending his career under the former Real Madrid boss is quite the thought.

Joeslu has already played in the Premier League on two separate occasions, for Stoke City and Newcastle United. However, it is fair to say that he did not impress at either stint. Therefore, a return to the English top flight could signify the development Joselu has undergone since then.
