After the action-packed game which Real Madrid hosted against Manchester City in midweek, they turn their attention back to La Liga. Carlo Ancelotti is expected to rotate a few players given the quick turnaround of the Champions League quarterfinal legs so he will benefit greatly from today's Real Madrid injury news.
Real Madrid injury news as key defender makes full injury return vs Mallorca
According to COPE, Real Madrid defender Eder Militao could make his full injury recovery as he is expected to start the match against Mallorca at the weekend. Eder has been missing in action for most of the season, eight months to be precise, after a nasty injury setback.
Eder returned to action at the weekend against Athletic Club but only as a late substitute. Understandably, Carlo Anclotti did not use the defender in the high-stakes match against Manchester City through fears of further injury and not keeping up with the pace of the match after so long out.
The idea, though, is for Carlo Ancelotti to test Eder Militao's match fitness before the away leg against Manchester City. Therefore, there's a chance that Real Madrid fans could see their star defender in Champions League action once again.
An interesting lens to view this importance Carlo Ancelotti decision from is that he essentially has two options to partner Antonio Rudiger - Eder Militao or Nacho Fernandez. Needless to say, Nacho is a club legend but Militao is the better defender. Therefore, if Militao returns to full match fitness by midweek, this will be a huge boost.
For those who aren't aware, Aurelien Tchouameni is suspended for the next Champions League match. He has the ability to play at centre back but he won't be available for selection, limiting Carlo Ancelotti's options.
It will be interesting for Real Madrid fans to watch how Eder Militao fares against Mallorca this weekend. Having him in the starting eleven for Manchester City (Away) would be a welcomed boost to Carlo Ancelotti as imagine him and Rudiger doubling down on Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.
Do you think Eder Miltao should start in Manchester?
