Real Madrid need to strengthen in a number of positions over coming transfer windows. The lack of squad depth is arguably their biggest problem right now. It also is believed to be one of the key reasons why the club are having to deal with so many injuries at the moment, as a number of starters play constant football as a result of little to no cover.
Right-back is one area where Real Madrid could do with strengthening. Dani Carvajal is 31 years of age and while his performances have improved this season, the Spaniard needs some competition.
The cover options for Real Madrid at right-back are Lucas Vazquez and Nacho. Neither of them is a natural in that position.
Thus, it would not be a surprise if Real Madrid signed another right-back in the near future. Reece James of Chelsea and Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool have been linked with the club in recent times. But it looks like a Manchester City player, currently on loan at Girona, is on their radar as well.
Real Madrid interested in Manchester City defender
As tweeted by Radio MARCA, Real Madrid have set their eyes on Yan Couto. This happened a long time ago and with a view to next season.
Couto is a Manchester City player, but the Brazilian international has been on loan at Girona since last season. And we all know how things are going for the Spanish club right now, as they sit atop the La Liga table and must be dreaming of scripting a fairytale campaign like Leicester City did some years back in England by winning the Premier League against all odds.
Let's see if that happens or not. Their players are certainly catching the eye of the best clubs around Europe. It remains to be seen if Real Madrid end up making a move for Couto or not in the summer.
