Centre-back is a position where Real Madrid might need to strengthen as soon as possible. With Eder Militao and David Alaba both out for the foreseeable future, the club only have two fit centre-backs right now in the form of Antonio Rudiger and Nacho. The Spaniard even ended up getting sent off in the match against Alaves.

It is not an ideal situation to be in. Real Madrid have done a great job so far but all their good work could be undone if they end up going on a bad run of form.

Thus, Real Madrid fans are hoping that the club sign a centre-back next month. And it looks like a Brazilian defender currently playing for Zenit is in their sights.

As reported by AS, one of the names on the list at the Bernabeu is that of Robert Renan. He could be signed for an affordable transfer fee or preferably through a loan with an option to buy in the summer.

Renan would tick a lot of boxes that Real Madrid are expected to look for when it comes to signing a centre-back. He is just 20 years of age, left-footed and is believed to have a great future in the game.

Renan came through the youth ranks at Corinthians and played a bit of senior level football for the Brazilian club before making the move to Zenit. He has been called up for the senior Brazilian national team squad as well but is yet to make his Selecao debut.

If Real Madrid end up signing Renan in January, one would expect him to come in as a cover option rather than someone who will be playing regular football from the get-go. It remains to be seen if a move materialises or not.
