Real Madrid are assembling a formidable squad for the future. The roster is filled with world-class talent all over the pitch from back to front. The backline is in safe hands with cornerstones like Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao. Antonio Rudiger seems to have raised his game as well after a difficult debut campaign.

The midfield of the future is no doubt set with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Fede Valverde. All of them have long-term contracts with the club and are expected to remain at Santiago Bernabeu for the foreseeable future.

Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo will surely be key to the team for years to come as well. But who will partner the two Brazilian internationals up front is up for debate. Since the departure of Karim Benzema in the summer, the Real Madrid number 9 shirt has remained vacant.

There has been one player who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid time and again, and that is none other than Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman is believed to have been on the radar of Los Blancos for years but a transfer has not materialised so far. Could that change soon?

Real Madrid set Kylian Mbappe transfer deadline

As reported by AS, Real Madrid plan to make a proposal to Mbappe on January 1. He must respond definitively before January 15.

Mbappe left a sour taste in the mouths of many Real Madrid fans after his contract U-turn to extend his deal at PSG in 2022. The club will surely not want to see that situation repeated, so they seem to be moving very carefully.

This transfer saga has been dragging on for years now. This time around, it does feel different. This seems to be Real Madrid's best chance to sign Mbappe and that too as a free agent.
