Real Madrid's need to sign a striker is no secret. Karim Benzema left the club last summer, after 14 years at Santiago Bernabeu, and has not been properly replaced. Joselu was signed on loan from Espanyol and to be fair to the Spaniard, he has done a very good job with the chances he has received. But it is quite clear that he is not the long-term solution up top for Los Blancos.
Real Madrid have been linked with plenty of high-profile strikers in recent months. Names like Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Victor Osimhen are being viewed as the club's potential next number 9.
Of course, signing any of them would not be simple. So, the club must have alternative targets too. One such striker they have been linked with is Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko currently plays for RB Leipzig and the 20-year-old is considered one of the best young strikers in world football today. And it looks like he has a relatively reasonable release clause in his contract as well.
Real Madrid-linked striker has €50 million release clause
As tweeted by Philipp Hinze, Sesko's contract includes an exit clause worth €50 million. It is valid from the summer.
Sesko has mostly played the role of an impact substitute during his time at RB Leipzig after arriving in the summer. But that has not stopped him from putting up some decent numbers. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 7 goals in 23 appearances and 765 minutes of football.
The 20-year-old striker is a regular for the Slovenia national team as well. He has already scored 10 goals at the international level.
Of course, when it comes to someone like Sesko, it is all about potential at this stage. He probably won't be a starter for Real Madrid right now. But he does have the attributes to be one in the future.
