Real Madrid need to strengthen in several positions across the pitch as they are lacking depth in a lot of areas. Of course, most of the recent speculation has been about centre-backs following David Alaba's season-ending ACL injury. And the idea of Raphael Varane potentially returning to Santiago Bernabeu has been floating in the media lately. He is not the only Manchester United player to be linked with Los Blancos recently though.

Real Madrid can do with some more cover on the wings as well. But it looks like they turned down the opportunity to sign one of Manchester United wingers.

That player appears to be Antony. Manchester United signed him in the summer of 2022 from Ajax for a transfer fee believed to be around €100 million but he has come nowhere near meeting expectations since then.

As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Manchester United offered Real Madrid the chance to sign Antony next year for a €30 million transfer fee. But Los Blancos have rejected the opportunity.

While Real Madrid could do with more wingers, it would make a lot of sense to sign Antony. His stint at Old Trafford has not been good at all.

Antony struggled last season but the hope was that he would improve this time around following a year to adjust. That has not happened. Instead, he seems to have taken steps backward and has not even made a single goal contribution this season so far.

So, Real Madrid should not consider signing Antony anytime soon. That does not mean that they should not strengthen on the flanks though. The club do not have wingers in their 4-4-2 formation but are expected to go back to a 4-3-3 once they have signed a world-class striker.
