Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo played his final European tournament, recently knocked out by France at EURO 2024. It was not the most electrifying tournament from Portugal or Cristiano Ronaldo, with the enigmatic goal-scorer failing to score throughout the entire tournament.

He did score a penalty in the round of 16 and quarterfinal shootouts but it was too little too late, as Portugal were eliminated in the quarterfinals. Portugal's forward line was not the most fruitful in this competition but their back-line, covered by the fellow Real Madrid legend Pepe, was a brick wall.

Not that the goalkeeper Diogo Costa needed much covering, as he had a splendid tournament. The Portugal goalkeeper should be of interest to Real Madrid fans, as there is a slim possibility he could play in the royal white jersey next season...

Real Madrid offered the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammate

According to a report from AS, Andriy Lunin's agent Jorge Mendes is set to meet with Real Madrid about the future of his client. It looks likely that Lunin could leave this summer, in the hunt for first-team football. From Real Madrid's perspective, they could be offered a replacement by Lunin's agent himself.

Andriy Lunin and Diogo Costa have their agency in common. Both players are represented by Portuguese agency Gestifute, so this could prove to be an easy replacement for Real Madrid, should they wish to firstly sell Andriy Lunin and secondly replace him with Diogo Costa.

André Villas-Boas has taken over as president of FC Porto, and he is not particularly interested in selling Diogo Costa this summer. However, as proven many times in previous transfer windows, agents can make it tricky for players to keep ahold of their best players when they intervene.

Certainly, Real Madrid are the most attractive club for any player in the transfer market. Therefore, it would come as a huge shock if Diogo Costa resisted the Real Madrid move, particularly with their rich history of Portuguese players in mind.

Do you think Real Madrid should consider signing Diogo Costa?
