It looks like Real Madrid are preparing for an unforgettable summer transfer window. They are top favourites to sign Kylian Mbappe, who looks set to depart Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this campaign when his contract runs out. And he is not the only high-profile signing that Los Blancos have their eyes on.

Real Madrid need to strengthen their defensive backline as well. It is remarkable how well Carlo Ancelotti's side have done despite their issues at the back. It is not an ideal situation to be in though and solutions need to be found quickly.

Left-back is one area where Real Madrid are expected to make an addition next summer. Ferland Mendy's future at the club is in doubt. On the other hand, Fran Garcia has failed to convince since his move from Rayo Vallecano.

There is some good news in that regard. As reported by Relevo, Real Madrid have closed an agreement with Alphonso Davies. But to close the operation they need to have the approval of the German club, as well as know the exact transfer fee it would take to sign the Canadian international. They don't see that it is an easy deal to complete.

There is cause for optimism if you are a Real Madrid fan. One thing is clear, Davies is open to joining the Spanish club.

In the past, we have seen David Alaba join Real Madrid as a free agent. Davies' contract runs out in the summer of 2025.

So, Bayern Munich surely would not want to see a repeat of the Alaba situation, where one of the best players leave on a free transfer. So, if they are unable to agree an extension with Davies between now and the end of the season, it is possible that they could be open to an exit this summer.
