Over the last few seasons, we have seen the beginning of a big transitional phase at Real Madrid. Many of the old guard have been leaving, making way for the next generation of players that will be expected to lead Los Blancos to enormous success in the seasons to come. And if last season is anything to go by, the future is as bright as the past.
Legendary players like Karim Benzema, Casemiro and Toni Kroos have all left the club or retired while the likes of Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe have replaced them. However, there are still a few players from the old guard who remain vital for Real Madrid.
One of those players is Dani Carvajal. The 32-year-old has been playing some of the best football of his career over the past number of seasons and is a Ballon d'Or contender this time around, having won both the Champions League and the EUROs.
However, in sports, we all know that father time can catch up with players out of nowhere. And with Carvajal getting older, the Spaniard has opened his mind to options once his time at Real Madrid comes to an end.
Real Madrid ready for talks with legend with future already decided
The Spaniard has already decided that Real Madrid will be his last club in Europe. As reported by GOAL, Carjaval said to The Athletic:
"When I decide not to be at Real Madrid, I’m not going to play in Europe and the alternatives are much reduced."
Carvajal still has one year remaining on his contract at Real Madrid and with the full-back still playing top-class football it doesn't seem like he and the club are going to separate anytime soon. In fact, talks over a new deal are set to take place soon as well.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, talks are set to start soon between Carvajal’s camp and Real Madrid. Both parties are happy together as a new contract will be discussed in detail.
