The long-running transfer saga involving Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid seems to be entering its final chapter. The Frenchman's current contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs out in the summer and so far, no extension has been agreed. He is in the final six months of his deal, meaning the World Cup winner is free to negotiate and agree a pre-contract with teams outside of France.
Real Madrid are being viewed as the heavy favourites to sign Mbappe. But if there is one thing we have learned over the course of this saga, it is that nothing should be taken for granted.
As reported by ESPN, Mbappe has received an offer to join Real Madrid as a free agent next summer. And another to renew his contract with PSG. He remains undecided about his future. Los Blancos have asked him for a definitive answer in the coming weeks.
Mbappe was being linked with a move to Liverpool as well. But things have taken an unexpected turn with Jurgen Klopp announcing his decision to leave the club after this season out of the blue.
Real Madrid have submitted offer to Mbappe
There have been a lot of interesting rumours doing the rounds about the Real Madrid and Mbappe situation. Some have even suggested that the club are ready to part ways with Vinicius Junior if the Frenchman does arrive in the summer.
One cannot rule out the possibility of him staying on at PSG either. They have struggled to seriously compete for the Champions League though and Mbappe's club career has stagnated to a certain extent as a result.
Finally, there is Liverpool. Klopp leaving with surely reduce their chances in the race to sign Mbappe. At the same time, the Premier League giants will surely want to start their next era on the right foot. What better way to do that than by signing the Frenchman?
