Real Madrid superstar misses training before derby vs Atletico

Real Madrid do not seem to be in the best shape going into this weekend's derby against Atletico Madrid. Aurelien Tchouameni is going to miss the game through suspension, having picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Getafe. And now, it looks like Carlo Ancelotti could be without another one of his most important players.

In the absence of David Alaba and Eder Militao, it is Antonio Rudiger who has stepped up to the plate in the heart of defence for Real Madrid this season. Many even believe that he has been the best centre-back in the world based on his recent form.

When Real Madrid take on Atletico Madrid, they might be without Rudiger. That would leave Ancelotti in a bad situation, with centre-back options already paper-thin.

As reported by MARCA, Real Madrid trained for the last time before the derby and did so without Rudiger. The German centre-back is still in pain from the blow against Getafe and is a doubt for the match against Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid have been Real Madrid's kryptonite this season. They are the only team to win against Ancelotti's side in this campaign and have done so on two occasions. They did lose in the Supercopa de Espana but even that was a very close game.

Real Madrid's defence has been particularly weak up against Simeone's team. They have conceded 10 goals over their three games this season so far.

So, if Rudiger is indeed missing at the weekend against Atletico Madrid, it would be a major worry for the La Liga leaders. One can only hope that the Germain centre-back recovers in time. If not, Ancelotti might have to play someone out of position in order to make up the numbers. Do not be surprised if Dani Carvajal partners Nacho in the heart of defence.
