Over the recent years, Real Madrid have been assembling a fantastic squad for the future. The team has seen the departures of many veterans and the arrival of the next generation of players who are expected to lead Los Blancos to glory in future seasons to come. More arrivals are expected moving forward with the lack of depth.

The club has seen the departures of key figures like Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and Casemiro just to name a few, and the arrival of youngsters like Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Jude Bellingham and many more. All of whom are expected to be central to Real Madrid's future success.

Another key departure from Real Madrid was that of Karim Benzema. The Frenchman arrived at Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2009 and was one of the club's most important players until his move to Al-Ittihad this past summer. Carlo Ancelotti's side have been scoring goals this season, but they need to sign a long-term number 9 soon.

There have been many top-class forwards linked with Real Madrid over the past number of years, with the most popular name being that of Kylian Mbappe. However, there is one player who might be a better fit, Erling Haaland.

Real Madrid told Erling Haaland's release clause at Manchester City

As reported by AS, Real Madrid have been told exactly what the variables are in the release clause included in Haaland's contract. It starts in 2024 and is also valid in the summers of 2025 and 2026. The figure for 2024 is over €200 million, and this drops as the contract time progresses.

Haaland is someone many have associated with Real Madrid ever since his breakout campaign with Red Bull Salzburg. The Norwegian superstar scored a record 36 goals in the Premier League last season and was key in Manchester City's historic treble.

A move for Haaland next summer seems very difficult although not impossible. If a deal cannot be reached with Mbappe, the Norwegian might become the club's top target.
