While the transfer for RB Leipzig star winger Yan Diomande is not yet official, Fabrizio Romano has stated that the deal is as good as done, and with PSG now pulled out of the race following Diomande's personal agreement with the club of his childhood dreams, Real Madrid just have to finalize the paperwork to get the deal over the line.
With Diomande in tow, how do Real Madrid stack up as an attack against the other top teams in European football? This ranking is not just about the starting front three, but it is also about the depth and how those players are supplied as an overall offense.
5. Barcelona
It may seem blasphemous to have Barcelona only ranked fifth when Raphinha and Lamine Yamal were both Ballon d'Or candidates in the 2024/25 season, but Barca have a gaping hole at the striker position after Robert Lewandowski's decline and departure to MLS. Ferran Torres is a highly intleligent player and was a hero for Spain in the World Cup Final, but he is not clinical or physical enough to be the starting striker for Barca.
Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi are dangerous speedsters in the Barcelona attack, but until they can consistently prove it week after week, they just don't match up with the others in terms of depth.
4. Manchester City
Manchester City make it all the way up to fourth on the strength of Erling Haaland, who is an absolute monster at the striker position. He is the best pure goal scoring No. 9 and finisher in the world, and his work rate gets underrated for sure.
The big problem with Man City is that they are not the best at creating the chances for the front line, though they do have a top young playmaker in Rayan Cherki. And their depth on the wings is phenomenal, even if one of Savinho or Omar Marmoush will likely leave the club.
3. Real Madrid
On paper, Real Madrid should have the best starting front three in the world, but Jose Mourinho has to be the one to actually turn paper into reality, as Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior both underperformed and were not on the same page again last season.
Yan Diomande adds a lot of firepower to this attack wtih his speed and intensity, and Jude Bellingham, Fede Valverde, and Arda Guler are great attacking options in midfield. But with Rodrygo Goes injured and question marks about depth, Real are not yet ready to unseat the two main favorites.
2. Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich have the best starting front three in the world, and Harry Kane and Michael Olise were probably the two best footballers on the planet during the 2025/26 season. The problem is that Bayern struggle to create for those three and have poor depth. Jamal Musiala has not been the same since his injury, Lennart Karl is streaky, and only Joshua Kimmich is truly world class in the Bavarian midfield.
1. PSG
PSG have three world class wingers in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, and Bradley Barcola with Ousmane Dembele manning the middle as the main scoring option, though he is obviously so much more than that. But what truly sets PSG apart and makes them No. 1 is how good their midfield is at creating chances for the front line and how fluidly everyone plays and interchanges. PSG are the epitome of team football and winning as a collective, and that is how Real Madrid need to aspire to play in 2026/27.
