Now though, the difficulty level is set to increase. Mourinho's team commence their Champions League campaign against Internazionale on Tuesday, with a Madrid derby at the Metropolitano to come in just over a fortnight. So, how strong will Real Madrid look in Seville?

As for Real Betis, they are also looking forward to the return of the Champions League. Los Verdiblancos' away game at Lille on Tuesday will be their first in Europe's top-tier competition for 21 years. Manuel Pellegrini's team made a solid start to the new campaign, beating both Real Sociedad and Valencia 1-0; Pablo García the late match-winner at Mestalla.

However, last Saturday, los Heliopolitanos completely fell apart. Drawing 2-2 with Levante at Estadi Ciutat de València at the interval, Betis conceded three times during the second half, eventually well beaten by a side likely to be battling relegation. Following last weekend's collapse against Levante, it will be interesting to see if Manuel Pellegrini makes changes. Summer signing Troy Parrott's impressive cameo off the bench against Valencia earned him a start, so will he continue to be chosen over Cucho Hernández.

Isco will captain Betis against his former club, with Antony alongside in attack. Fran García joined from Real Madrid for €4 million this summer, so may feel as though he has a point to prove.

With mid-week matches coming thick and fast over the next fortnight, expect Mourinho to rotate. Thus, new signing Yan Diomandé hoping this will see him start for the first time.

One player who will not be rotated out is Kylian Mbappé, seeking to score against Real Betis in Seville for the first time.
