When you look at Real Madrid's squad on paper, it is hard to debate that they have the best squad in Europe,. There is world-class talent at almost every position on the pitch, not only in the starting lineup, but also on the bench waiting for their time to be called upon.

With an attack comprised of Vinicius Jr, Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo, sitting in front of a midfield with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Fede Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni, any team would fear playing Real Madrid on any given matchday. However, there is one area on the pitch that isn't so fearsome - the defense.

The defense has been riddled with injuries over the past number of seasons which has caused goals to leak in for fun, costing the team results in key matches. The club is always looking at their options in the transfer market to help fix the defensive issues, and it seems the club have their eyes set on a double swoop of Liverpool defenders.

Real Madrid are interested in Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate, per reports

As being reported by Daily Mail, Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Liverpool center-back Ibrahima Konate alongside their move for Trent Alexander-Arnold as they look to bolster their defense.

The Frenchman's contract with Liverpool runs out in the summer of 2026, with the club looking to sign the defender on a free transfer then, as is their plan with teammate Alexander-Arnold this summer.

Konate has become one of the first names in Liverpool's matchday lineup since his move to the Premier League side from RB Leipzig in 2021. Konate has formed a rock-solid center-back duo with Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, conceding only 26 goals in the Premier League so far this season.

Real Madrid's move for Konate won't come without competition of course, with PSG also interested in signing the Paris-born defender. Liverpool will no doubt hope to tie down their player to a long-term extension but with talks stalling at the moment, anything is possible in the future.
