Over the last few years, we've seen Real Madrid transition towards a younger generation of players expected to lead the club to equal or greater success than the previous era. Almost all of the veteran players of Los Blancos' glorious past have departed for the next chapter of their careers, and new, younger players have been arriving to fill their boots.
In just the last few years, we've seen a number of players arrive who are all expected to be major players for the future. Players such as Kylian Mbappe, Alvaro Carreras, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are just a few who have arrived and are expected to be key players for years to come.
Real have taken another step in planning for the future, however this time, they haven't signed an established star to add to the first team squad, they've instead signed a hugely talented player to their youth team, who just happens to be the son of one of Real's most iconic players.
Real Madrid already planning far into the future by signing former players son
As being reported by Fabrizio Romano (via Madrid Xtra on X) Real Madrid have signed Marcelo's son Enzo Alves to his first professional contract with Real Madrid Castilla, as the club view him as a huge talent and a major part of the club's long-term project.
The player is still only 16-years-old, two years younger than his father was when he signed for Los Blancos back in 2006. He still has a long way to go before he breaks into the first team, but the club sees the player's potential, which is why they rushed to tie him down to a deal. Unlike his father, an all-time great fullback, Enzo Alves is a center-forward and has scored three goals in 10 appearances for Spain's U16s.
Real are planning way ahead into the future with this move and are making a huge gamble as it's not even a guarantee that in a few years he'll break into the senior setup, or that he will eventually be sent out on loan somewhere else, like many other youngsters that come through the club's academy.

Playing for Castilla will be the first big test in his young career and will be the his chance to show what he can bring to the club as a player. Given the legacy his father has at Real Madrid the expectations on Enzo will be high from the start but unlike his father he'll be starting in the youth system where the pressure isn't as high as it is for the first team, the perfect way to ease him into the start of his professional career.
