Well, it wouldn't be your average Real Madrid season if the team wasn't battling against some sort of injury crisis. The team has had to cope with a number of lengthy injuries this season, just like in the last few years, which has cost the team in big games.
The team has already lost defenders Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao to season-ending ACL injuries but they have also had to deal with players picking up week-to-week injuries. This sometimes causes Carlo Ancelotti to deploy makeshift backlines or midfields which affects the play of the team.
Real Madrid have a number of important matches in the coming weeks and another injury to a starter would be a nightmare come true for Real Madrid. And unfortunately for the club, that nightmare has come true.
Real Madrid announce massive two month injury blow
Real Madrid have confirmed via a club statement that midfielder Dani Ceballos suffered an injury to the semimembranosus muscle, a muscle in the hamstring, in his left leg and could be sidelined for up to two months.
The midfielder limped off the field in the late stages of Real Madrid's 1-0 Copa del Rey semi final first let victory over Real Sociedad on Wednesday after a collision with an opposing player.
Ceballos has become a regular starter in recent weeks and has been one of the unsung heroes in the team this season. The Spaniard has stepped up when the team needed him and now will, unfortunately, be unavailable heading into a crucial stretch of the season.
As mentioned earlier another injury at this point of the season is a worst-case scenario for Real Madrid. Head coach Carlo Ancelotti already has to deal with a number of injuries to other players as well as suspensions to some players which could cost the team results in the future.
