Arsenal are reportedly eyeing Real Madrid star Arda Guler ahead of this summer's transfer window. The Turkish midfielder has encountered a topsy-turvy season at the Estadio Bernabeu.
Guler came in and out of Xabi Alonso's starting XI during the Spaniard's seven month reign. But he failed to secure a permanent place in his team.
Alvaro Arbeloa appears to be a huge fan of the Turk and is prepared to give him a regular starting role. But a potential move to the Premier League could be on the cards with Mikel Arteta keeping tabs.
Arsenal eyeing Real Madrid's Arda Guler
Guler joined Madrid from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023 for €20 million with expectations he'd become a huge star at the Bernabeu. He is still only 20 and has years ahead of him although he might have expected to be have been more of a focus in Los Blancos' team.
According to
Caught Offside, Arsenal are monitoring Guler and could make a move for the Turkiye international in the summer. He has just over three years left on his contract but has clearly caught the eye of Arteta.
Chelsea are also believed to be weighing up a move and the Blues have a track record of signing youth. If he does leave Madrid this summer he could very well end up in London as a possible tug-of-war between the Premier League giants is anticipated.
Guler appears to be a long-term Arsenal target and has been on their radar since late 2024. He holds comparisons to Mesut Ozil who played for both the Gunners and Los Blancos and the now-retired attacker lit up English football at his peak.
Guler could replace former Madrid man
Madrid have done business with Arsenal in the past, selling Martin Odegaard to the Gunners back in August 2021 for around €40 million. The Norweigan was 22 at the time but has grown into a leader at the Emirates and currently wears the captain's armband.
Odegaard was hailed two seasons ago as one of the best playmakers in Europe and he continues to pull the strings in attacking midfield. But there have been some mumurs that Arteta could upgrade on the 27-year-old.
There are question marks over Odegaard's reliability in big games and he has encountered injury issues over the past two years. On his day he's one of the best ball-playing midfielders in Europe but the North Londoners might feel Guler can take Arteta's team up a gear.
