Given the size and the history of a club like Real Madrid, it's no surprise when a player comes out and says they've dreamed of playing for the club since childhood. We've seen it with players like Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, Jude Bellingham, and even Joselu, all of whom eventually signed for Los Blancos.

This is something we see quite often, but it's usually players from smaller clubs talking about their dreams of playing for Madrid someday, which is understandable coming from up-and-comers. But when it's a player from a top European club, that's something that can turn heads.

One of Europe's brightest and most talented youngsters publicly mentioned his dream of one day pulling on the iconic Los Merengues shirt, and it's led many to question whether he'll regret his comments so early in his career.

Bayern Munich's newest wonderkid could regret his "dream" Real Madrid comments

While at a fan club meeting this weekend, Bayern Munich starlet Lennart Karl was asked if he had a dream club aside from the Bundesliga giants, to which he responded, "Real Madrid." In a video posted by iMiaSanMia on X, Karl responded by saying:

"FC Bayern is a very very big club. It's a dream to play there. But at some point I definitely want to go to Real Madrid. That's my dream club, but that stays between us [laughs]. Of course, Bayern is something very special and it's a lot of fun at the club."

Unfortunately for the 17-year-old, these comments have not gone down well with Bayern fans, which is understandable given the team he mentioned is one of the Bavarians' biggest European rivals and has a history of signing players from the Allianz Arena.

This isn't the first time the German has been mentioned with Madrid. He took part in a series of tryouts with the La Liga side when he was 10 years old, and he nearly joined the club, but ultimately, things fell through. A proposed Bernabeu deal collapsed when it came time for the contract negotiations, and he ended up joining Bayern, where he has been thriving this season.

Whether Karl will ever end up in Madrid remains to be seen, and it is far too early to predict the future. Given the amount of attacking power already at the Bernabeu and the success he's having with Bayern this season, any transfer for Karl won't be for many, many years.
