Real Madrid's disastrous season took a new turn for the worse when they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Getafe on Monday. Alvaro Arbeloa's men had the chance to move back to within a point of leaders Barcelona but were beaten for the second game in a row.
Martin Satriano bagged the winner with a sensational volley in the first half. Both sides ended the game with 10 men when Franco Mastantuono and Adnan Liso were both sent off in second-half stoppage time.
It was a nightmare result for Los Blancos and Arbeloa whose side failed to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Osasuna last time out in the league. The club's board are reportedly unhappy and now have real concerns over the caretaker manager.
Madrid dominated possession in front of their home fans but were wasteful and failed to get past a stern Getafe defense. The loss means they trail Barca by four points with 12 games left of the La Liga season.
Real Madrid board doubt Arbeloa
A report from Diario AS (via Madrid Zone) claims that the higher-ups are "having doubts" about Arbeloa and feel the next three months could be "very tough." His side surrendered a lead at the top of La Liga last month and face Manchester City in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Arbeloa, as per usual, took the blame for his side's defeat and it's becoming an embarrassing recurring theme. He's never willing to call out his players and instead overprotects them, allowing them to get away with such shambolic performances as last night.

It's claimed that Arbeloa's "lifeline" is the Champions League but his Madrid side are the underdogs ahead of their last 16 tie with City. His contract expires at the end of the season and it looks all but guaranteed that he won't be kept on.
The board have questions to answer
Madrid's board have to start looking at themselves and the decisions they are making that are costing the club. Appointing Xabi Alonso, a very hands on coach as Carlo Ancelotti's replacement was always going to end in disaster.
Allowing player power to take hold at the Bernabeu is another issue that they continue to ignore. Madridistas boos and whistles have been heard throughout the second half of the season and there have been chants directed at Florentino Perez calling for him to resign.
Their issues aren't only stemming from the team's dissapointing performances but Perez's vision for the club. They are concerned about his proposal to change the ownership structure and allow private investment.
Perez and his fellow hierachy aren't getting it right on the sporting side of the club let alone the business. His team are now at major risk of finishing the season trophyless and as a result falling further behind Barca in the battle for Spanish football superiority.
