Real Madrid are planning a much needed squad overhaul this summer. Off the back of back-to-back disastrous trophyless seasons the team is in desperate need of new faces and freshening up under new manager Jose Mourinho. The club has drawn up a long shopping list of transfer targets this summer and there are two players who are on the list that actively want to join Real Madrid and the club can't pass up the opportunity to sign them.
As being reported by MadridXtra on X, both Josko Gvardiol and Enzo Fernandez want to join Real Madrid this summer. Both players have been linked with moves away from the Premier League in the summer and with both wanting to make the move to the Bernabeu, Real Madrid would be stupid to let this opportunity slip through their fingers.
Real Madrid must make these two signings a reality
It's obvious that the midfield and defense are the two areas in the squad that need the most fixing, and with Enzo and Gvardiol almost being served on a silver platter to Real Madrid, the club needs to splash the cash to land both players to get their rebuild off to the best start possible.
Ever since the retirement of Toni Kroos and the departure of Luka Modric to AC Milan, the midfield has been in desperate need of a temp controlling, deep laying, playmaking midfielder and Enzo Fernandez fits the mold perfectly for what Real Madrid are looking for. He's still only 25-years-old, has a wide passing range, high midfield IQ, can make plays from anywhere, can be a goal threat, and bring a calmness and composure to the midfield that has been lacking since the departures of Kroos and Modric, which is what has been lacking most.
As for Gvardiol, still somehow only 24-years-old, he has consistently been one of the most underrated players at Manchester City and brings to the table a number of important attributes that are exactly what Real Madrid need in their backline. He isn't afraid to make takes, is good with the ball at his feet, has a wide passing range for a defender, and he can play both center-back as well as left-back which would be a game changer for Real Madrid with all the injuries they constantly have to deal with in the backline.
Obviously Real Madrid need more than just two signings this summer but signing these two would almost be a perfect summer for Los Blancos. The only issues would be the fees as Chelsea would look for close to the €120 million they paid for Enzo and the same goes for the €90 million City paid for Gvardiol, however if the club really are serious about getting back to the top of Europe the fees shouldn't matter. Real Madrid has to pay whatever they have to to get both players cause if they don't they risk setting themselves back even further than they already are.
