Real Madrid are plotting a massive summer transfer window this year. The club is looking to make a statement off the back of back to back disappointing seasons, aiming to reclaim their place as the best team in the world. The club has a number of ambitious transfer targets, with club President Florentino Perez still determined to make the most outlandish transfer become reality.
As being reported by L'Équipe (via theMadridZone on X) Florentino Perez dreams of having both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland playing together for Real Madrid and has not given up on the idea that it is possible someday in the near future.
Real Madrid chief Perez still 'dreams' of signing Manchester City superstar
The Norwegian has long been linked with a move to the Bernabeu, dating all the way back to his early days when he burst on the scene with Red Bull Salzburg. Many believed he screamed 'Real Madrid player' but the club opted not to sign him, as Karim Benzema was still firing on all cylinders at the time, so the striker ultimately ended up signing for Dortmund and the Manchester City.
However now that Benzema is gone, Real have been in desperate need of a natural number nine with Florentino Perez now looking to turn his dream into a reality. While Mbappe has been doing a sensational job playing through the middle it is not the Frenchman's natural position, and if the club hopes to get back to the top of the mountain, they need a classic, goal poaching striker like Haaland.
Perez's dream of having both Mbappe and Haaland in the same team would make many fans salivate at the mouth, we still have to ask the all important question, would it actually work? We've seen Mbappe and Vinicius struggle to gel together in the same team, and assuming the club keeps Vinicius Jr, trying to fit all of the Brazilian, Frenchman, and Norwegian in the same team could prove to be too big of a task for any manager to handle.
As we saw with the Bale-Benzema-Cristiano attacking trio, Benzema took on a lesser role while Bale and Cristiano did the majority of the goal scoring. Should the club look to create a Vini-Haaland-Mbappe attacking line, it's unlikely that any of them would be willing to take on a lesser role, which could cause more problems than the club needs.
If Florentino Perez hopes to achieve his ultimate dream, he's going to have to open his checkbook big time. Per Transfermarkt, Haaland is currently valued at €200 million, but Manchester City would no doubt demand a fee that would trump Neymar's record €222 million fee.
The Norwegian is under contract with the Premier Legaue side until 2034, and while rumors have always swirled that he could look for a move when Pep Guardiola leaves, whether or not Haaland will actually leave the club remains unknown, but should a transfer become reality, the Bernabeu seems to be his destination.
