For as long as I can remember, Luka Modric has been Real Madrid's main corner man. I became a fan of this team in 2014, following the Champions League final, when Modric's excellent corner ball for Sergio Ramos' spectacular 92:48 clinched La Decima. Since then, Modric has consistently been Los Blancos' first choice in the corners.

However, we have reached the end of the game. Modric will leave after the Club World Cup, and we only have a few games left to see him work his magic from the corner.

However, it appears that Los Blancos have already decided on his successor.

According to Diario AS, Trent Alexander-Arnold has been chosen by Xabi Alonso and team as Real Madrid's primary corner taker, especially from the right.

According to the story, the coaching team knew he'd be one of the names, but it only took a few hours of training for them to conclude he was the perfect fit for the position.

Trent's record on set pieces is exceptional

The first thing that came to me when I saw this news was the clever corner versus Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals. That, in my opinion, is a noteworthy highlight in his set-piece oeuvre.

Trent is well-known for his accuracy while taking corners and delivering free kicks within the area. Despite being a right back, his major strength is his ability to make accurate passes and free kicks. Likewise with corners. He's just very good at the job.

According to StatMuse, the Englishman has taken over 700 Premier League corners in his career, with a lot of them resulting in brilliant goals, either directly or indirectly. To summarize, his ball control is among the finest on the team, and he can unleash some difficult crosses that opponents should be wary about.

We've known Modric and, formerly, Toni Kroos as Real Madrid's deciding men on the corners, and the two did an excellent job in charge. But now that the latter has left and the former is only here for a few weeks, it's time for a change, and what a fantastic change it may be.
