The injury crisis at Real Madrid seemingly gets worse week by week. The squad has lost a number of key players this season which has cost Real Madrid results as Carlo Ancelotti has to play a makeshift starting lineup with players playing out of position.

The defense is the part of the squad that has been hit by the injury bug worst. The squad lost Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao to season ending ACL injuries which left the defense stripped down to its bare bones.

Antonio Rudiger was Real Madrid's ironman in the defense this season playing over 1800 minutes but that seems to come at a cost. Rudiger is the latest defender to be bitten by the injury bug and is expected to be out for up to four weeks.

With the German defender out, the last thing the club could afford is another defensive injury. However, their worst nightmare has come true.

Real Madrid confirm second major injury blow ahead of Manchester City clash

Real Madrid have announced David Alaba has suffered a thigh injury and is expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks. This means Alaba is set to miss the upcoming Madrid Derby against Atletico as well as the Champions League playoff clashes against Manchester City.

The center-back had only returned to fitness earlier in the month following a long term absence with an ACL injury he suffered in December 2023.

Since his return in mid January, Alaba has made five appearances for Real Madrid all as a substitute and was seemingly in line for a start until his unfortunate injury.

Alaba's injury is a nightmare come true for Real Madrid, just days after Antonio Rudiger suffered a leg injury that is expected to keep him out for a number of weeks now with Alaba expected to be sidelined that leaves only Raul Asencio as they only fit central defender in the first team squad for a key stretch of games.

Carlo Ancelotti will once again have to play a makeshift defense which could cost Los Blancos results as it has on a number of times already this season.
