It wouldn't be a typical Real Madrid summer transfer window if they weren't linked with every name you can imagine. Los Blancos are always looking to sign players and as a result are always mentioned in every transfer rumor. Some make total sense and others just come out of nowhere and that is the exact case with the latest rumor linking Real Madrid to this ex Barcelona player that haunted them last season.
As being reported by Chris Wheeler on X, Real Madrid has surprisingly emerged as one of the many teams that could be interested in signing Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford this summer. United look set to offload the Englishman with a number of Premier Legaue clubs as well as other European clubs being kept in the loop regarding his situation.
Real Madrid look to spite Barca and steal Rashford
Rashford spent this season out on loan at Barcelona and had quite the impressive season grabbing 14 goals and 14 assists across 49 games in all competitions and was a key player in Barca's impressive La Liga campaign scoring a stunning free kick against Real Madrid in El Clasico back in May. His loan from United just for one season so now the Englishman will return to Old Trafford but many don't expect him to stay for long.
United look to have rebuilt their attack last summer leaving no place for Rashford and as a result a number of clubs are keeping tabs on the attacker with Real Madrid surprisingly being one of them. Other clubs interested in signing the 28-year-old include Tottenham, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich meaning Los Blancos would have to put up quite the fight if they were seriously looking to sign him.
How exactly Rashford would figure in to Real Madrid's attack still remains somewhat unknown but many can assume he would primarily see more of a backup role. With Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe undisputed starters and with the plan being for Endrick to return from loan and play a bigger role in the attack, the Englishman would have a tough time getting into the starting lineup, even with his former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho expected to take over.
The general consensus is that Barcelona and Manchester United will work out a deal for Rashford to return to the Spanish side, however after spending ā¬80 million on Anthony Gordon, that may be Barca saying Rashford was just one and done at the Camp Nou. United would look for a fee of around ā¬35 million, a fee Real Madrid could easily afford, however there are other areas of the squad that need reinforcing first before looking to bring in another attacker in an already overloaded attack.
