If one thing has been consistent for Real Madrid over the last few years, it's injuries. Not a season has gone by where the club hasn't suffered a long-term injury to a key player in the squad, causing the coach to rely on squad players he wouldn't normally call on.
From knee injuries to shoulder injuries to muscle injuries, there is always someone in the squad sidelined with an injury, and given Real Madrid's luck, it's always a key player in the starting lineup that the team now has to play without which costs the team key results.
And it seems for the club when one player comes back from an injury, another goes down. The fans and the club couldn't even celebrate the news of Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga's return to the squad, when another player goes down with an injury, and is expected to miss the key matches in the coming weeks.
Real Madrid could hardly celebrate Bellingham's return before this injury blow
As reported by Arancha Rodriguez of Deportes Cope, Trent Alexander-Arnold will be out for between 6-8 weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in Real's 2-1 win over Marseille in the Champions League this week.
The Englishman pulled up with an injury just five minutes into Real's Champions League opener, having to be replaced by Dani Carvajal. Calling this a worst-case scenario for Trent this early in the season may be an exaggeration, but it is definitely not ideal for the Englishman.
Trent has had a somewhat up-and-down start to his Real Madrid career. He's had a mix of great performances as well as some disappointing ones. Xabi Alonso has been rotating Trent and Dani Carvajal every game this season, trying to see which fits his system better.
And now, being expected to be sidelined for as long as eight weeks, he could face an uphill battle to get back into the starting lineup.
Alexander-Arnold was no doubt signed this summer to be the long-term successor to Dani Carvajal. Trent is only 26 and Carvajal is 33, and with father time soon approaching the Spaniard, Trent will get his time to shine at Real Madrid but will unfortunately have to go through some tough times to get back to the top level we all saw for years at Liverpool.
