Real Madrid could still make a €90M risk to get Enzo Fernandez

Real Madrid were once interested in landing Enzo Fernandez for manager Jose Mourinho, who wants a new midfield general to take the club to the top after two straight seasons without any trophies. There are other options for the Royal Whites at the No. 6, but Enzo has stood out because of his technical quality, ability to win possession, and experience as a 2022 World Cup champion with Argentina.

Signing Enzo will not be easy at all, as Chelsea signed him for 121 million euros and expect to get at least that much out of him. So while Real Madrid had designs on signing him to rule their midfield, they would have to make a sale in their own midfield to afford him. And that is likely why Real have made a statement and are relaying they are out of the running for the player.

Eduardo Camavinga, by the end of the 2025/26 La Liga season, had played himself out of Madrid, and even Mourinho has told the Frenchman that he does not see him in his future plans. But Cama does not want to leave and selling him alone may not make a dent in half the asking price Xabi Alonso and Chelsea will set for a player they still value highly - even as he and agent Javier Pastore have made it abundantly clear to the Blues that they want out.

Real Madrid will risk Aurelien Tchouameni

So the player Real Madrid could get rid of is their own No. 6, Aurelien Tchouameni, who is a very talented player, but, like fellow Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga, has not shown the game breaking ability of a Real Madrid starter.

According to a report from Rodra P from ESPN, via the Madrid Zone, Real Madrid are seriously considering selling the 80 million euro signing from Monaco, and like Chelsea with Enzo Fernandez, they are ambitious and want even more money in return than what they originally paid in 2022 for him.

Given Chelsea have mutual interest in Aurelien Tchouameni from the Xabi Alonso side, Real Madrid could parlay him into getting Enzo from Chelsea. If the Blues are valuing Enzo at 150 million euros or a little less, perhaps Real Madrid could package Tchouameni with around 50 million euros to get Enzo.

And that is also ambitious, because they are saying that they view Enzo as a considerably better player than Tchouameni. It all points back to Jose Mourinho. If this is what Mourinho wants, as Florentino Perez has already shown this summer, then it is what the legendary manager will get, regardless of any statements.
