For Real Madrid their biggest enemy over the last few seasons has been injuries. It seems as though it's something different every season and Real Madrid can't have just one injury free season and the same can be said for the 26/27 season, as the team has already been hit with it's first big injury blow before the season has even started.
As being reported by MadridXtra on X, midfielder Thiago Pitarch will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks after suffering an MCL injury to his left knee during pre-season training. The 18-year-old suffered the injury following an awkward movement during on of his first training sessions back with the squad following his return from winning the u19 Euros. Pitarch was expected to have a role in Jose Mourinho's squad after his breakout campaign last season but unfortunately he'll have to wait a little longer for his season to start.
Heartbreak for Thiago Pitarch this summer
While the injury is thankfully not serious enough to require surgery it is still significant enough to rule him out of the remainder of the pre-season and the opening weeks of the new La Liga campaign, with a return in September looking most likely for the teenager. This is the first major injury the teenager has had to deal with in his career and at such a young age it will be crucial he doesn't rush his comeback and risk a further set back that could have a major impact on his future.
For the youngster this injury comes at such a heartbreaking time. Off the back of his breakthrough campaign last season, where he made 16 first team appearances and managed to grab two assists, as well as an incredible u19 Euro tournament where he bagged a tournament high six assists, Pitarch was expected to feature into Jose Mourinho's plans this season as a regular substitute, but now those plans have been put on halt.
Pitarch will now have to watch from the sidelines as he rehabs his way back to full fitness before getting the chance to show Jose Mourinho exactly what he brings to the table when the lights are on brightest.
For fans it sucks to see the teenager go down with his first serious injury. He was somewhat thrown into the deep end last season due to the midfield injury crisis and showed that he has what it takes to play for Real Madrid and has incredible potential at only 18-years-old.
