One of the biggest orders of business for Real Madrid in the summer 2025 transfer window will be to sign a new deep lying midfielder to help exert control, creativity, and defensive covering for the team. Real Madrid have never fully replaced the defensive quality of Casemiro, nor have they come anywhere close to the level of control and technical quality that Toni Kroos and Luka Modric brought to the table.

Obviously, replacing the legendary KCM trio was always going to be a tall order, but it has been sad to see the state of the Real Madrid midfield these past two seasons. The good news is that they have real young gems coming up. Nico Paz is literally the best player in Serie A right now and coming back to Real Madrid this summer. Thiago Pitarch has been excellent for a youth player in the first team this season, while Miguel Angel is worth watching.

But there is one more gem every Real Madrid fan needs to have on their radar, and he plays alongside another potential transfer target at a quality club. Angelo Stiller is a No. 6 on the radar, but Chema Andres is already someone Real can bring back, similar to Paz, if they want this summer.

Chema Andres is still on the radar

According to a report from MARCA's Matteo Moretto, though, via Madrid Xtra, Real Madrid's plan is to let Andres stay at VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga to season for another year. While Real are indeed watching the young Spanish defensive midfielder closely, they want to wait. That said, there may be reason to worry, as Moretto hints at other huge clubs lining up to try and steal him away in 2027.

Andres does not start every game for Stuttgart, so you can see why Real Madrid would want him to devleop more and wait before deeming him ready for all the pressure of the Santiago Bernabeu in such a difficult position as the No. 6.

But Real Madrid do need a profile like Chema Andres. His reading of the game and defensive quality are literally transcendent. He has all the technical, athletic, and intellectual traits to be world class for Real Madrid in a role they desperately need a bit of class - and not believing in him would be much more disastrous than not believing in Antonio Blanco, who has himself blossomed into a great 6 for lowly Deportivo Alaves.
