Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing Federico Dimarco but face competition from Liverpool for the
Inter Milan left-back. The expectation has been that Los Blancos target a new right-back this summer amid uncertainty over Dani Carvajal's future.

The veteran Spaniard's contract expires in June and there's no sign of an extension. Madrid have recently been boosted by Ferland Mendy's return from injury and thus have two left-back options.

Alvaro Carreras arrived from Benfica last summer and has been a mainstay in the team ever since. But the transfer chiefs seem to have set their sights on Dimarco who is regarded as one of the best full-backs in world football.

Real Madrid eyeing Liverpool target Dimarco

A report from Sports Boom claims that Madrid are keen on Dimarco and that they are one of several top clubs from England and Spain eyeing the Italian. Liverpool is particularly showing interest as they feel he can replace Andy Robertson, whose contract expires this summer.

Manchester United and Arsenal are also monitoring the 28-year-old who will have a year left on his contract this summer. He is enjoying a remarkable season with Inter, posting seven goals and 15 assists in 35 games across competitions.

The issue that interests clubs is Dimarco's loyalty to Inter and his status as a crucial member of Cristian Chivu's team. The Italians want to extend his contract, and a departure "seems unlikely."

Dimarco has been with the Nerazzurri since the summer of 2018 and has grown into a top European defender. Former Italian defender Beppe Bergomi called him "one of the greatest in the world" amid a sensational se

How much do Inter want?

A potential deal for Dimarco wouldn't be cheap despite the player entering the final year of his contract this summer. The report claims that Inter are demanding at least €75m–€80m to even consider a possible sale.

Dimarco's agents have been instructed to inform clubs circling for his signature that he has "no intention to leave." His club want to tie him down to a new deal which runs until 2030.

Those factors give Madrid little hope of trying to convince the club and the player to part ways. It shouldn't be too much of a setback for Los Blancos given they only just signed Carreras last summer.

If Mendy can stay fit for the rest of the season that will bode well for a new permanent manager ahead of next season. The Frenchman has endured constant injury struggles but returned in a 2-1 win over Celta Vigo and was man of the match on the night.
