Real Madrid have been pushing hard to upgrade the squad this summer after finishing without a trophy for a second straight season despite bringing Kylian Mbappe to a team that had already won the double in the 2023/24 season. Jose Mourinho has made it his mission to upgrade the defense, and now Real Madrid are focused on signing a top midfielder next, too.

But in the meantime, president Florentino Perez has grown increasingly obsessed with bringing a certain attacker to the Santiago Bernabeu. Michael Olise tore Real Madrid to bits in the Champions League quarterfinals, eliminating the Merengues and turning heads in the Madrid front office, particularly Perez's. And Olise has only enhanced his reputation this summer at the World Cup, with his burgeoning chemistry wtih Real Madrid star striker Mbappe only giving Real more hope that they can get a deal done.

Bayern Munich, though, know that Olise is their crown jewel, and they are not willing to sell the Crystal Palace grad for any price, with most journalists stating that Real Madrid would have to set a new transfer record above the 222 million euros PSG spent on Neymar nearly a decade ago in order to even get Bayern to consider.

Michael Olise does not sound realistic

Now, Miguel Serrano is reporting, via the Madrid Zone, that both Real Madrid CEO Jose Angel Sanchez, the right hand man of the president, and the club's chief scout Juni Calafat think signing Michael Olise from the Bavarians this summer is flat out impossible. There is only one person in the entire Real Madrid leadership camp who thinks Olise can be signed this year, and that man is none other than Florentino Perez himself. Even though Papa Perez knows it will be difficult, he still thinks he can pull it off.

Of course, leave it to Perez to think he can do the impossible, but, look, he has done it so many times that you can't blame him. He has pulled off even crazier feats as Real Madrid president like the Luis Figo signing that got him the job, three straight Champions League titles, and the 2021/22 Champions League title triumph.

Olise is a possibility if he pushes for the move and if Kylian Mbappe keeps balling out with him for France, which is just about the best recruiting pitch imaginable. That said, it is telling that Sanchez and Calafat are telling Perez that they can't make a move this summer, and for fans, it is more realistic to say that 2026 will plant the Olise seeds for 2027.
