Real Madrid are probably getting Xabi Alonso as their next coach once Carlo Ancelotti leaves the club, but they will not be signing Florian Wirtz, according to a report from BILD.

According to the report, Wirtz appreciates the interest from both Real Madrid and Manchester City, but he has decided to join Bayern Munich, and has told his current coach about his decision.

Real Madrid have never shown urgency to sign the player, even though there have been reports in the past. Those reports did spike whenever Alonso's eventual arrival was mentioned.

Real Madrid are always interested in the best young players, though, so there is no surprise that Wirtz is being mentioned.

It also helps the case that Wirtz has had the best seasons of his career playing under Alonso, and has improved drastically in both aspects ever since he became a superstar because of working with Alonso.

Alonso rates him very highly as well, as he has said in the past, and had also reportedly created a wishlist for Real Madrid which had Wirtz's name in it.

Real Madrid need other players more than they need Florian Wirtz

Real Madrid should look at it as a blessing in disguise, though, and spend the hypothetical money they would have spent on Wirtz to cover other positions in the team.

150 million for Wirtz could easily be spent instead on getting a left-back in Alvaro Carreras, who would cost 50 million. They could then spend 50 million on Dean Huijsen, and maybe the rest on signing a Joselu type striker, or another left-back.

Some positions need reinforcing with or without Wirtz, and Real Madrid need to do so if they want to compete for the Champions League again.

They may not have to sign superstars this time around to boost their brand image, but they can make a few tweaks and a few signings so that they can become European powerhouses once again and win the coveted Champions League title for the 16th time.
